It is plastic free paper. The coating can provide paper with oil and water resistance and heat-sealing properties. This straw will perform better with new paper in the sense of wet strength in drinks. However, our "philosophy" in developing our paper straw is different from normal paper straws. Normal paper straw needs more paper (more ply, higher gsm, and wet strength paper) to provide better strength in drinks. Our straw, in the contrary, uses water-based barrier coating (WBBC) to replace glue and wet strength agents in normal paper straws paper.
